Given here below are some of the experiences of some students encountered in the schools visited in March 2003: -

1. A female student confessed engaging in sex with men in order to get her school fees.  She was confused and wondered where she would get her tuition from, after signing the True Love Waits card.
2. One of the female students had a problem of a male teacher falling in love with her. The teacher threatened that if she refused to have sex with him, then he would make her fail in her exams. She was told to choose between her health and passing.
3. Some of the students confessed being addicted to pornography. They said that they had tried to stop the habit but had failed.
4. Some of the students are involved in masturbation and claimed that they had been encouraged by publications like Straight Talk that it is harmless. Many students are struggling with this addiction.
5. Many of the students have been deceived that they will become impotent if the do not have sex at an early age. This has led to some of them contracting STDs. Unfortunately, these poor students cannot tell their parents about the STDs, and neither can they tell the school authorities. So they end up suffering quietly without any help. Some of the STDs are treatable, but if not treated quickly, can have result in failing to have children later in life.

1. A good number of female students were sexually abused while very young, and are now suffering from the psychological trauma associated with this, and have not received any professional counseling.
2. A school boy came on stage in front of his fellow students and confessed that he has been addicted to pornography from the internet. He went on to say how he would spend all money given to him by his parents for lunch to surf pornography. One day, he spent even his transport money, and got onto a taxi without realizing that he had no money. When he was supposed to get off the taxi and could not pay, the conductor took him back into the city, confiscated his identity card, until the day he paid the money. He then pleaded with his colleagues “I’m still struggling to leave pornography, but I warn you my friends to stop viewing pornography”.
3. One of the teachers at her school wants a relationship with her. She refused and now the teacher has gone to a level of punishing her even without a reason. She is afraid of what this teacher might do. She is in S 6 and doesn’t want to fail, she is also afraid of telling the school administration. She needs advise (18 years Namilyango S S).
4. S.6 Student dropped a subject combination because the teacher of that subject was pestering her for an affair she refused. She was so disturbed to let go of the subject. (Kennedy S S)
5. As she watched TV with her Uncle in the sitting room they watched people have sex. The Uncle grabbed her and forced her to have sex. This is how she lost her virginity. This always disturbs and pains her. (18 years , Oasis Francee S S)

1. “I am not sure of my HIV status due to the way I behaved between 6 and 15 years.” (S5, St.Elizabeth Nkoowe.)
2. Troubled by peer pressure – Considered fake and not a man for he has no girlfriend. Emotionally distressed.      (18 years,  Airforce S S.)
3. Thanks for your advice, I have really loved your session. Keep it up. Well still, I have a problem. I am a prostitute because my parents at one time sent me away from home and I resorted to that but now I stay with them. Pliz help me. (Namiryango S.S.S.)
4. Feels she is so big in size for school and that what everybody at home tells her. They are forcing her to fall in love with a certain man who is wealthy but she doesn’t want. Both families are pressuring her for marriage.(S 5 19 years Universal Girls H S.)
5. While I was still young, I was forced into sex by the house girl (domestic worker) but after 3 years the girl died of AIDS so I am worried and I fear to go for check up. What should I do?            (Namilyango S S )

1. A 15 year old boy sexually molested his 10-year-old sister. The root cause of the problem was found to be early exposure to pornography in form of blue movies at home when the parents are at work.
2. Dad acting out like never before, he has another wife besides the stepmother. The stepmother knows of it and speaks ill of the counselee’s dad. The dad however does not care and does not communicate to the counselee at all. Her real mother however left her when she was 2 years old and her auntie has raised her. All this has filled her with bitterness.( Gayaza High School 18 years old.)
3. A male student had a problem with advanced masturbation, struggles with his relationship whether to go into sexual activity or not and also struggle with peer pressure in regard to drinking and going to night clubs.,  (Seeta High School, 19 yrs old.)
4. A female student was suffering with the trauma of having been raped in her childhood leaving her hurt, bitter, insecure with a low self esteem and with hatred towards men and marriage as a whole and this has left with a problem in decision making and poor performance in her studies. (Our Lady of good counsel, Gayaza; 15yrs old).
5. A male student had a problem with shyness, low self-esteem and fear of speaking before people. ( Lubiri S.S.S, 19yrs old).
6. A female student had an obsession with a boy whom she is in a relationship with. She felt that she just couldn’t do without him. (Seeta High School, 15yrs old).

The questions given here below have been transcribed. Attached / enclosed however, are copies of some of the originals as written by the students themselves.

• I have been in contact with pornography for quite a long time.  As time went by, the idea of pornography faded out of my mind and started thinking of seeing the real “art of God” (ie real women) which quite tight to be at its disposal (ie not easy to come by).  Being someone with money at the time, I got the courage to go and buy whores (prostitutes) just to see whatever they have.  I would import these prostitutes and just hold, touch and do whatever stupid (things I could) with them.  They were always on my mind and whenever I get big money that is the first thing that clicks on my mind.  What can I do to make this fade?               (LAKESIDE COLLGE LUZIRA)
• There is a married man who sticks on me moreover a husband to one of my relatives. What should I do because I am not interested in him and he is on my neck? (APAS S.S.)
• One day I came across a sugar mummy. She forced me to play sex with her but I used condoms and yet you are discouraging condoms. Should I go bare or use a condom because she doesn’t want me to leave her without playing sex with her? (MASINDI HIGH)
• One day a boy was seducing me. He kept on doing it but I refused and when he felt that he was tired of doing it, he came to me and told me physically that he loved me but still I refused and he told me that if I do not accept he will rape me.  I have nothing to do about it. Advise me.  (KIBULI S.S)
• I have a problem. I used to be very much interested in pornography and it created a habit within me of masturbation.  What can I do?  ( Kibuli S.S. )

• I am a female aged 19 and still a virgin but the problem is since my O’ level I had a girl that I loved more than I could ever love a boy and this prevents me from having a boy lover. Because I fill she is my boy lover. What should I do to stop this?  (TROPICAL HIGH SCHOOL)
• I have my elder brother who is now in S.6 but he told me his problem where by especially the period of examination when they ask for papers to hand in when he has not yet finished, he panics and not only that, he passes sperm (ie ejaculates). What causes that? When he meets his lover, even if they do not have sex he also passes sperm.  Is he normal?  (NATEETE MOSLEM.)
• I have been addicted to pornography for about eight years now, and since it is difficult to get girlfriends, I decided to resort to prostitutes. I have been having sex with prostitutes, and now I am infected with HIV. So please warn my colleagues, because now I’m suffering from the consequences of my action. (KIBULI S.S.) 
• For my case I am not addicted to pornography but cocaine. I cannot do without it. I no longer want to continue with it though I am forced to.  What can I do?
• I never had sex but some of the stories I am told by my friend is that sex is interesting. Is it true? And one of my friends said that she hears her parent playing sex and she feels like she wants to play sex also. What make(s) that feeling? (16 year old girl)
• I have my lover he is the one who provides me basic needs. I want to stop it, what can I do? (16 year old girl)
• A 13-year-old female student was worried that since she had been climbing trees, her virginity has been lost.

• For me I am a boy but I hate using condoms and finding the trustful partner is hard so what should I do?  Kaveras (plastic bags) and rubber bands hurt me, masturbation is hard because my dorm mates can hear.
• Due to unavoidable circumstances like lack of second bed during my visit to my brother’s (half-brother) home, I found myself in bed with him.  He was so near and he started touching me. And of course you know what happened next. And now I feel not wanted, dirty and God’s enemy. I’ve prayed but I can’t help the memories from my head. Please help me (Mengo S.S)
• I have a sister/ brother with two organs but she is worried for she resembles boys more than girls yet she is got the male organ plus the female. Will she have children?
• Why is it that boys/men do not want to marry girls/women who have lost their virginity yet they are the ones who take it away and damp them?
• Ever since I was born, I have been watching a lot of pornographic flicks.  I usually see men sucking and kissing the clitoris of women.  Is that really healthy or unhealthy?  Is it one of the ways of romancing women or not?  Do u oppose it or not?
