The Family Life Network Today
Background
Family Life Network (FLN) is a Ugandan based non-government organization
which was formed in January 2002, to work towards the restoration of family
values and morals of the Ugandan society and serves all, regardless of
gender, racial, ethnic, social or religious background.
Uganda is going through unprecedented levels of moral decadence, broken
and dysfunctional family relationships. Cases of defilement, incest
and sexual abuse have skyrocketed in the last five years, and worse still,
the HIV pandemics which had declined to a stable level of about a 6%
infection rate has began to rise again! More men and women of marriageable
age are opting to remain single, indicating a lack of faith in marriage.
Homosexuality/Lesbianism and drug abuse are spreading like wildfire in
schools, while pornography is invading the society at an alarming rate!
According to WHO, Uganda is the worst country in the world in alcohol
abuse, and has one of the highest rates of teenage pregnancy in the
world. Section of Uganda society are now advocating for legalization
of prostitution and abortion, and the list goes on and on.
All these things are symptoms of the sorry state of the family
institution which is the basic building block of society. It is against
the background that FLN was established to address the root cause of this
state of affairs which, if not handled soon, will lead to the destruction
of our society.
