Participants started gathering at Centenary Park at 8am and registered with FLN staff.
T-shirts were distributed to them and the order of marching was determined Mr. Patrick Masambu flagged off the walkers at 9:00am. About 700 people participated in the walk.
The Sponsor:
FLN was unable to acquire a main sponsor for the walk. However, Uganda Communications Commission agreed to partner with FLN for the walk and through out the Family Restoration Project.
Other Participants
The different organizations and individuals to be contacted were ascertained and FLN staff assigned to each. Letters requesting for their participation and donation towards the project and walk were delivered to them.
The following categories of people were invited to participate in the walk:

- Corporations, Companies, Institutions and Organizations’.
These were allowed tom send their team of walkers who would carry their logos/banners and wear their organization T-shirts if they wished to do so.
Companies that donated towards the walk budget would be awarded certificates at the complication venue depending on the amount donated.
The categories of certificates were as follows:-
- Gold Certificate - UGS 5,000,000 and above
- Silver Certificate - UGS 3,000,000 – Below 5m
- Bronze Certificate - UGS 1,000,000 – Below 3m
Corporation staff were also welcome to make donations individually or collectively and in the walk. They could also make the donation even if they would not participate in the walk.
- Embassies and International Organizations and NGOs.
Embassies and International Organizations participated would be given a certificate of Participation.
- Local NGOs and Schools.
NGOs and Schools (staff and students) were allowed to have banners of their organization/school and posters of their choice related to the theme. They would have an opportunity to make a donation towards the 2009 project budget and would be given a certificate of participation.
- Religious Institutions
Leaders from churches and mosques were requested either to contribute towards the project as the institution itself or to encourage their members to do so.
- Family Walkers
Those who wished to participate in the walk as a family (i.e. with their family members & friends), could make a donation and participate in the walk. Those who wished to donate some funds but were not in a position to walk were also welcome.
- Individual Walkers
Those who wished to participate in the walk were free to make a donation and walk. A number requested for mobilization forms and they were able to get contributions from their workmates and friends
- Donations in Kind
Organizations and individuals who wished to donate by providing goods or services in kind were welcome to do so.

THE ROUTE
The walk started at the Centenary Park (the monument area) opposite Electoral Commission Offices on Jinja Road, followed Yusuf Lule road (Kitante road) up to Mulago round about, turned left to Wandegeya traffic lights, continued to Makerere University main gate, and ended at the Makerere University Sports Grounds behind Mary Stuart Hall.
