Profile:
Name: Stella Mukhaye Wamukota
Qualification: Community Psychologist
Marital Status: Engaged Faith Anglican
Designation: Program Officer (Schools)

About myself
I’m proud to be a female by gender, born and  raised in Kampala  and above all a Mugisu by tribe. The 3rd born child among 7 children.
In my growing up people made comments that look a person who can work with communities, which could probably have made me what I am today.
I think I possess a compassionate heart that compels me to share my life with others so that together we can be happy some day.

Stella at FLN
I vividly remember in my S.6 vacation at one of the youth gatherings, Mr. Stephen Langa was invited to speak to us and in so doing he mentioned his need for volunteers to join him in reaching young people in schools and that was the beginning of my journey with FLN. We were trained and equipped for work which at first I found so hard to do because I was reserved. Though I had been a leader in school, I some how imagined I couldn’t stand before young people in schools and speak. It took me a while but when I stared, Oh! I found great fulfillment.
One thing I must say is, what I am today is as a result of accepting to be humble and volunteer with FLN.

Along the way, I have encountered personal challenges and achievements as a result of working with young people these include;

  • Getting weary especially when I see immorality increasing in a nation like Uganda.
  • Families disintegrating bringing anger, bitterness, revenge, brokenness and many more in the lives of the children.
  • How to bring the youth to young people who are being flooding with wrong ideas that are sugar coated and catchy but dangerous if you know what I mean by this.

Achievements include;

  • Having an opportunity to work with FLN especially interacting with people of all spheres and hear personal stories.
  • Having people come to me and share their personal pains and see them change or happy is so fulfilling in my life.
  • Reaching out to young people has also helped me grow in the things I have grown to believe like abstinence till marriage, true love waits and Character for they are part of what builds a nation and family.

About my work
At FLN, I’m a programs officer for schools both primary and secondary and my responsibilities  include developing and sustaining programs that favor children and youth.
